This Troika bottling is Woodenhead's prize and joy (a blend of Buena Tierra, Wiley, and Humboldt barrels) -- the smallest bottling of the 4,000 total cases that they make each year (typically about 300 cases of each). The mouthfeel and layers of rich red fruit is very impressive; oak plays a key role in the complexity of this blend -- which is as strong as any of "the greats" I've tasted from the fine 2006 vintage. This wine should continue to improve with cellaring (for another 7-10 years). $120; 93+ points
