The Russian River Valley is a heaven for winegrowers; even wines that love lots of heat (like ZIn) will do well there... Woodenhead's Zinfandel is unfined and unfiltered, a natural winemaking approach that leaves a lot of flavor intact. The wine shows extracted dark red fruit, good body and mouthfeel -- this is a well-made wine that is neither too big nor too thin (nice balance for a Zin). $45; 90 points
