This label's winery hasn't moved since Mayacamas' inception in 1968. Quentin got this bottle as one of his 40th birthday gifts... Every time I see one of these classic Napa bottlings from the 60s I wonder "how many of them are still sitting in cellars" -- and then I think what it must have been like to live in San Francisco, or elsewhere in Northern California in 1969 (such a turbulent year in American history)...

I had a vrtical long time ago from 1969 to 1985. We sold itat my Dad's San diego liquor store (Oz's Bottle Shop) in the 1970's due to me driving up to Napa Valley twice a year to build relationships with the smaller wineries that didn't have distributors in Southern California. Mayacamas Cabernet lived a long time and only got better with age! It took about 7-10 years for the vintages to mature but boy when they did; THEY WERE GREAT! The 1969 is still to this day the only wine I ever rated a perfect "20" on the Davis tasting scale..
