2005 Williams Selyem 'Allen Vineyard' Chardonnay Russian River Valley

This was the second bottle of Chardonnay we brought to Alex and Meg's Oyster Roast at Stinson Beach, and it showed wonderfully.   Williams Selyem is one of only a few top wineries with access to the famous Allen Vineyard fruit.  This wine is a bit overripe but not overoaked and the balance is intact.   The fruit is not cloying, and this is one of only a handful of Northern California's chardonnays that shows serious minerality on top of the yellow fruit.   This is quite simply one of the finest white wines produced in Sonoma.  $75; 94 points
