2005 Hyde de Villaine 'Belle Cousine' Hyde Vineyard Los Carneros Red Wine

This is an 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon blend from select blocks of the Hyde vineyard, made by the Hyde family.  The fruit is dense and overripe, showing sharp alcohol soon after opening the bottle...  On the palate the wine is on the light side, presenting its bing cherry and black cherry flavors in a disjointed manner -- almost like very young wine that hasn't come together yet.   88 points
