Once again, Evan Morganstein showed up with a very big-time bottle at Scot's large format tasting -- this time he brought Schafer's premier Cab bottling. The wine is still in prime maturity (amazing for a Cali Cab), showing no signs of being past its prime. The fruit is delicate and clearly not young, the flavors are clear and soft: red cherry, black cherry, red cassis, and wonderful oak contributions of leather and tobacco. Outstanding! $350; 95 points
