Jos Stella brought this Grenache from Clarendon Hills, one of Australia's finest wineries, to Eric Porres' down-under tasting. Problems were evident right away -- a slightly brown color around the edges of the glass, caramel notes behind the dark red fruit on the palate, and a sugary finish all point towards some oxidization. This wine would have been at its best about five years ago. There was likely a storage problem that contributed to this pre-mature oxidization. $44; 84 points
