Nick Bumstead brought this bottle of J. Alberto to the South American tasting -- I believe it is the first wine from Patagonia I've ever tried! The producer is a cousin of Sassicaia's (Martini). The vineyards are maintained biodynamically and harvesting is done by hand (Nick's favorite wines are biodyanamic, which is the specialty at Chambers Street Wines where he works). The wine has a nice body -- not too big or too thin. The dark red fruit is nuanced, but there is only one layer of fruit (a common characteristic of Malbec). Still, this is one of the better Malbecs I've ever had. 90 points
