Laetitia 2006 Arroyo Grande Valley Pinot Noir

I purchased this bottle at the Safeway in SOMA.   Arroyo Grande Valley (San Luis Obispo County) is off the beaten path for California pinot noir, and Laetitia (a Latin expression of joy and happiness) is not too far off of the standard for quality in Sonoma pinot...   This wine is a bit hot on the nose and palate, but the acids are high and help the lively Bing cherry and blackberry to come through.   It is not as smooth on the palate as many Cali pinots, but thankfully it is not overripe or overoaked.   $19; 87 points
