Lynmar Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Norm Page invited me up to Lynmar for a few behind-the-scenes tastes (he's a list member there, and knows I enjoy Lynmar's pinot noir)... The visitor's building is beautiful, and a fantastic place to entertain -- they made it look easy to accommodate 150 or people inside and outside with wine tables pouring different varietals spread out all over.
Lynmar's baseline RRV pinot is typical of the region: aromatic, sprightly acids immediately on the palate (but lower than other great growing years), a mixture of red and black fruit characteristics (which to me is the #1 tip off in blind tastings that I'm drinking a RRV pinot), and spice.
$37; 89 points
Bottom Line: This wine will really be ready to evalute properly in 2010; it is still very young and the fruit/oak integration is incomplete.
