Lynmar is an up-and-coming winery in the Russian River Valley. When they have a great growing year, they'll put aside a few of the best barrels to blend tiny quantities of this Five Sisters bottling, a tribute to Lynn Fritz's five daughters.
Because it is made in small lots, it is virtually impossible to find outside of the winery or its best customers' cellars (pictured here was a pizza party at the winery for mailing list members). Events like these are oftentimes the best reason to join a winery's mailing list. The only thing better is being an invited guest of a mailing list member -- because then you get to buy the reserve wine, large format bottles, and similar rarities without joining the mailing list and getting some wine that you're not into...
This wine is a great example of the current fashion in RRV pinot noir making -- deep rich color, plenty of extraction during cold soak, rich French oak, ripe/overripe dark red fruit flavors that are in distinct layers (oak is another layer). Bottom Line: Someone please serve me a bottle of this in 2117 so I can check in on it again (it will continue to improve with age for at least a decade).
