Macha, Marissa and I tried this bottle at Lupa in Noe Valley, a great neighborhood trattoria...
This Ramsay suffers from many of the stereotypical shortcomings that are often attributed to Mendocino reds: the fruit isn't as ripe (this wine is 13% alcohol, where 14 or close to 15% is more the norm in the Russian River Valley these days), the wine tastes much "hotter" than it actually is (I would guess that it was 15%), and the result is that the fruit is in the background and is relatively undistinctive. Cherry and wild strawberry show through enough to justify it's place on the wine list.
$13 (retail); 86 points
Bottom Line: It's fair at its retail price but it's disappointing at its restaurant price.
