I have been holding onto this 1.5L bottle from Chateau La Conseillante for many years, waiting for the right time to bring it out... A dinner at Le Zinc in Noe Valley seemed like the perfect occasion, especially since we were dining with Macha Levinson and Tom Willis & Caroline Duffy.
Only 12.9% alcohol (why can't winemakers do this anymore?) this wine shows delicate, ripe red fruit -- cherries and rose petal -- it is smooth on the palate and tastes mature, although it will continue to drink well for another 5-10 years. Low tannins.
$250 (magnum); 93 points
Bottom Line: A gorgeous wine that is not seen very much in the United States...
