The Hitching Post was made famous by the movie Sideways, a film that has moved the American wine market closer to pinot noir (and further away from merlot).
"Cork Dancers" are salmon that jump out of the sea trying to get past the cork line of former Alaskan fisherman Gary Hartley. Gary and Frank Ostini have a nice little franchise going, and produced 10 wines in 2005 (the "5.1" signifies wine #1 of 10 in the 2005 vintage).
Hot alcohol on the nose, dusty black fruit, with a healthy dose of spice on the palate and finish. This is a pinot with too much "makeup" and not enough fruit expression.
