David Morgan and his beautiful wife Lorea made hosting a wine tasting for 20 seem effortless...
"Dofi" means dolphin in Spanish, and this wine was very nice, with subtle layers of fruit and spice -- the blend is 60% Garnacha, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 5% Carinena and 5% Syrah. It was fermented in oak vats and then barrel aged for 14 months in new French oak. The winemaker, Alvaro Palacios, was trained by Moueix in Bordeaux before moving to Rioja and then the Priorat.
The wine received one 2nd place vote (out of 21 wines, and a dozen voters).
$55; 88 points
Bottom Line: Good but not great -- this is the Estate's second wine, its top wine is L'Ermita.
