Emilio Moro is a very reliable producer from the Ribero del Duero, whose wines are widely available.
Jim Meskauskas, shown here introducing the wine to the tasting group, summed it up correctly as a wine with a good QPR (quality/price ratio). I found this 2003 to be a bit clumsy -- thick and heavy, like a low priced Haut-Medoc. It does have some life to it though, and the black fruit will likely continue to improve with age as it continues to integrate with the spicy oak.

Bottom Line: A sturdy wine that's a good comparison point for wines from Ribera del Duero -- if it's worse than Moro, it's not very good; if it's better than Moro, it's pretty damn good...
