This wine is a blend of 50% Garnacha and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Only 500 cases were produced. Casca Vincet founded the winery in 1999 but her family has owned vineyards for over 600 years... These vineyards are over 800 ft up (above the village of Gratallops).
Scot McLernon (pictured here with Stephanie Vautravers) brought it to our tasting and I thought it showed extremely well -- the Grenache came through clearly (it tasted like more than 50%), and the loosely-knit wine showed red and black fruit simultaneously with violet on the finish.
The wine received one first place vote (of 21 wines from ~ 12 voters).
$60; 90 points
Bottom Line: A wonderful example of the fruit complexity that can come from these unusual blends from the Priorat.
