Marissa Levinson and Melissa Ceria share their looks with me and Arthur Ceria (from a window-table at Chez Papa in Potrero Hill).
All the elements of a great burgundy are in this 1er cru bottling: medium color, clarity, balance of alcohol and acid, red fruit & black fruit simultaneously, spice, all with oak elements that aren't in the forefront. The "thinness" that's often associated with '96 is evident here though (if you love austere burgundies you'll love this), and that's the only thing that knocks this "score" down for me.
$45; 90 points
Bottom Line: A great value if you can find it; best bet is usually www.wine-searcher.com
